Im-Insured.com Limited
Version 1.0 · Last updated: 30 July 2026
This document sets out the basis on which we will do business with you. Please read it carefully and keep it for your records. It explains who we are, what we will and will not do for you, how we are paid, and what to do if something goes wrong.
If there is anything you do not understand, or you disagree with, please tell us before we go any further.

We are an insurance intermediary, authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) for insurance distribution. You can check our authorisation and what we are permitted to do on the Financial Services Register at register.fca.org.uk or by calling the FCA on 0800 111 6768.
We are not an insurer. We arrange insurance with insurers who then provide your cover and pay any claims.
2. Who we act for
We act for you, our customer, not for the insurer. Our job is to understand what you need and to arrange suitable cover for you from the insurers we work with.
There is one limited exception: when we collect a premium from you or handle a refund, we may do so as agent of the insurer, which means the insurer treats the premium as received once it reaches us.
3. The insurers we use
We deal with a panel of insurers rather than the whole of the market. We do not have access to every insurer or every product available in the UK, and there may be cover available elsewhere that we cannot offer you.
Our panel is selected on the basis of the products offered, underwriting acceptance, service standards and financial strength. You may ask us at any time for a list of the insurers we deal with for a particular type of cover, and we will provide it.
For some types of cover we may deal with a single insurer. Where that is the case, we will tell you before you commit.
We do not guarantee that the cover we arrange is the cheapest available.
4. What service you will receive
Whether we give you advice depends on the type of cover. This table sets out our service for each product line.
| Product | Our service |
|---|---|
| Life insurance | Advised |
| Critical illness cover | Advised |
| Income protection | Advised |
| Mortgage protection | Advised |
| Life insurance for expats | Advised |
| Group life insurance / death in service | Advised |
| Relevant life cover | Advised |
| Key person insurance | Advised |
| Business protection | Advised |
| Private medical insurance, including group and expat | Advised |
| Car insurance | Non-advised |
| Home insurance | Non-advised |
| Breakdown cover | Non-advised |
Where our service is advised
We will ask you about your circumstances, your needs and your priorities, and we will make a personal recommendation — we will tell you which product we think is right for you and why. We will explain the recommendation, confirm it in writing, and set out the key features, exclusions and limitations of the cover before you commit.
Because these products usually require information about your health, we will ask you to complete a health and lifestyle questionnaire, and we will explain any trust options available from the insurer you choose.
Where our service is non-advised
We will give you information about the products available so that you can make your own choice. We will not give you a personal recommendation and we will not assess whether a product is suitable for you. You decide, based on the information provided, and the responsibility for that decision is yours.
We will still tell you the key features and exclusions of the products so you can compare them, and we will answer factual questions about how the cover works.
5. How we are paid
We are paid commission by the insurer. Commission is a share of the premium you pay, and it is paid to us by the insurer out of that premium.
We do not charge you a fee for our service. The price you are quoted is the price you pay; our commission is already included in it and is not an additional charge on top.
You may ask us how much commission we will receive on your policy at any time, before or after you take out cover, and we will tell you. If you are a commercial customer you have a right to be told the amount on request, and we apply the same approach to everyone.
We do not receive any other payment, benefit or incentive from an insurer that would affect the recommendation we make to you. If that position ever changes in relation to a product we recommend to you, we will tell you before you commit.
6. Paying for your cover
Premiums are payable directly to the insurer, usually by direct debit or card, under the payment arrangements set out in your policy documents.
We do not hold client money. We do not operate a client money bank account, and we will not ask you to pay premiums to us.
Please make sure you understand when your premiums are due and keep them up to date. If you miss premiums, your cover may be cancelled or a claim may not be paid, and for protection policies you may not be able to obtain the same cover again later — particularly if your health has changed.
7. What we need from you
The insurance you receive depends on the information given to the insurer, so this section matters.
If you are buying cover as a consumer, you must take reasonable care not to make a misrepresentation. That means answering every question honestly and to the best of your knowledge, and correcting anything you later realise is wrong or incomplete.
If you are buying cover for your business, you have a duty to make a fair presentation of the risk. That is a higher duty: you must disclose everything you know, or ought to know, that would influence the insurer’s decision, in a reasonably clear and accessible way.
In either case, if the information given is wrong or incomplete, the insurer may refuse a claim, reduce what it pays, change the terms of your policy, or treat the policy as if it never existed. If you are unsure whether something matters, tell us anyway and we will check.
Please also:
- read your policy documents when you receive them and tell us straight away if anything is wrong or not what you expected
- tell us about changes to your circumstances during the policy — your address, your health where relevant, your occupation, who is covered, or the sums insured
- keep the documents somewhere you and your family can find them, especially for protection policies that may be claimed on many years from now
8. Your right to cancel
You have a statutory right to change your mind after taking out cover:
- 30 calendar days for pure protection policies such as life insurance, critical illness cover and income protection
- 14 calendar days for general insurance such as private medical insurance, car, home and breakdown cover
The period runs from the day the policy starts or the day you receive your policy documents, whichever is later. Your policy documents will confirm the exact position and any deduction the insurer may make for cover already provided.
You can cancel later than this, but you may not get a refund. Cancelling a protection policy means the cover ends, and taking out equivalent cover again later may cost more or may not be possible.
9. Claims
If you need to claim, tell the insurer as soon as you can, following the instructions in your policy documents. Tell us too, and we will help you understand the process and deal with the insurer.
The claims decision is the insurer’s, not ours. We cannot guarantee any particular outcome. If you are unhappy with a claims decision, section 12 and our Complaints Procedure explain your options.
Never assume a claim is covered. Do not incur costs on the strength of an expected payment before the insurer has confirmed cover.
10. Conflicts of interest
Occasions can arise where we, or one of our staff or business partners, has an interest that conflicts with yours. We have arrangements in place to identify these and to manage them fairly.
Where we cannot manage a conflict in a way that protects your interests, we will tell you and explain your options before we carry out any business for you.
11. Confidentiality, data protection and financial crime
We treat your information as confidential and only disclose it as described in our Privacy Notice, which explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it, who we share it with and what rights you have. Please read it alongside these terms.
We are required to verify the identity of our customers and to guard against fraud, money laundering and financial crime. We may carry out identity and anti-fraud checks, and we may be obliged to report suspicions to the authorities without telling you.
12. If something goes wrong
If you are unhappy with any part of our service, please tell us. Our full Complaints Procedure explains how, but in short:
Email compare@im-insured.co.uk · Telephone 029 2271 2773 · Post Complaints, Im-Insured.com Limited, 3rd Floor, Capital Tower, Greyfriars Road, Cardiff, CF10 3AZ
We will acknowledge your complaint promptly and send a final response within eight weeks. If you are not satisfied with our response, or if eight weeks pass without one, you may refer your complaint free of charge to the Financial Ombudsman Service (Exchange Tower, London E14 9SR · 0800 023 4567 · financial-ombudsman.org.uk). You should normally do so within six months of our final response.
13. Financial Services Compensation Scheme
If we cannot meet our obligations to you, you may be entitled to compensation from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).
Insurance advising and arranging is covered for 90% of the claim, with no upper limit. For compulsory classes of insurance, and for long-term insurance such as life and other pure protection policies, cover is 100% of the claim.
More information is available at fscs.org.uk or on 0800 678 1100.
14. Ending our relationship
You may stop using our services at any time, and we may cease to act for you, by giving written notice. Neither of us has to give a reason.
Ending our relationship does not affect any policy already in force, or any transaction we have already started — we will complete anything already underway unless you tell us otherwise. Any fees or commission properly earned before the notice remain payable to us by the insurer.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute. These terms are supplied in English and we will communicate with you in English.
16. Your agreement
By asking us to arrange insurance for you, you accept these Terms of Business. Nothing in them reduces any right you have under the Financial Conduct Authority’s rules or under general law.
We may update these terms. Where we do, we will give you the current version and, where a change materially affects you, we will draw it to your attention. The current version is always available on our website.
