Im-Insured.com Limited

Version 1.0 · Last updated: 30 July 2026

This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies we use on im-insured.co.uk, what each one does, and how you can control them. It sits alongside our Privacy Notice, which explains more generally how we handle your personal information.

Im-Insured.com Limited, trading as I’m Insured, is the controller of the information collected through the cookies described here. Our contact details are in section 11.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They let a site remember your actions and preferences, keep you logged in, and give the site’s owner information about how the site is being used.

We also use technologies that work like cookies — pixels, tags, tracking scripts, and local storage in your browser. Where this policy says “cookies”, it means all of these.

Cookies set by us are first-party cookies. Cookies set by other companies whose services appear on our site are third-party cookies; we tell you which those are in the tables below.

2. Your choices, and what happens before you make them

When you first visit our site you will see a cookie banner. You can accept all cookies, reject everything that is not strictly necessary, or choose category by category.

Only strictly necessary cookies are set before you consent. Nothing in the preferences, statistics or marketing categories is loaded until you have agreed to that category. This includes Google Analytics, Google Ads, and the Meta pixel — none of them run on a first visit unless and until you allow them.

You can change your mind at any time. Use the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page to reopen the banner and add or remove categories. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it. Removing consent stops further collection; it does not delete data already collected, although you can ask us to erase it using the rights in our Privacy Notice.

Our consent tool is Complianz. It records which categories you agreed to and when, so that we can evidence your choice — that record is itself a strictly necessary cookie.

3. Strictly necessary cookies

These make the website work and keep it secure. They cannot be switched off through our banner, and we do not need your consent for them because the site cannot function without them.

Cookie Set by Purpose Expires
cmplz_banner-status Complianz (first party) Remembers that you have responded to the cookie banner 365 days
cmplz_consented_services, cmplz_saved_categories, cmplz_saved_services, cmplz_policy_id, cmplz_id Complianz (first party) Stores which cookie categories and services you consented to, and the version of this policy you were shown 365 days
cmplz_functional, cmplz_preferences, cmplz_statistics, cmplz_marketing Complianz (first party) Records your choice for each individual category 365 days
wp_consent_* WordPress (first party) Passes your consent choice to other parts of the site so they know whether they may run 1 month

wordpress_logged_in_* WordPress (first party) Keeps a member of our staff signed in to the site’s administration area. Not set for ordinary visitors Session or persistent
wpEmojiSettingsSupports WordPress (first party) Checks whether your browser can display emoji characters Session

4. Preference cookies

These remember choices you make so the site behaves consistently. They are only set if you consent to the preferences category.

Cookie Set by Purpose Expires
wp-settings-*, wp-settings-time-* WordPress (first party) Stores display preferences Up to 1 year
wp_lang WordPress (first party) Remembers your language setting Session
et-pb-recent-items-* Divi theme (first party) Keeps page layout and display settings consistent as you browse Persistent
intercom-id-* Intercom (third party) Keeps your live chat conversation with us open across pages, so you do not lose the thread if you navigate elsewhere 9 months

5. Statistics cookies

These help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it. They are only set if you consent to the statistics category.

Cookie Set by Purpose Expires
_ga Google Analytics (third party) Distinguishes one visitor from another so visits can be counted 2 years
_ga_* Google Analytics (third party) Maintains the session state for our specific Analytics property 1 year
_gid Google Analytics (third party) Distinguishes visitors over a shorter window 1 day

Section 7 explains our position on Google in detail.

6. Marketing cookies

These are used to measure our advertising and to show you relevant advertising on other websites. They are only set if you consent to the marketing category.

Cookie Set by Purpose Expires
_gcl_au, _gcl_ls Google Ads (third party) Records that you arrived from one of our Google adverts, so we can see which campaigns produce enquiries Up to 90 days
test_cookie, IDE Google / doubleclick.net (third party) Checks whether your browser supports advertising cookies, and supports remarketing Up to 13 months
gclid (stored value) Google Ads via our site The click identifier attached to your visit when you arrive from a Google advert Up to 90 days
_fbp Meta / Facebook (third party) Measures the effect of our Facebook and Instagram advertising and supports audience building 90 days
gaconnector_* (a set of cookies) GA Connector (first party) Records how you found us — the referring site, search or advert, the utm campaign tags on the link you clicked, and general device and location information — and passes it into our customer relationship management system so that if you make an enquiry we know which marketing produced it Up to 2 years
feefoUserId, feefo.translations* Feefo (third party) Supports our independent review service, including recognising you if we invite you to leave a review Up to 1 year
intercom-device-id-* Intercom (third party) Recognises your device across chat sessions 9 months

Please note the GA Connector entry above. Unlike the other cookies in this table, the information it collects is attached to your enquiry record if you go on to contact us. That means the marketing source of your enquiry becomes part of the information we hold about you, and is covered by our Privacy Notice as well as by this policy. If you do not consent to marketing cookies, this does not happen.

7. Our position on Google

Because Google’s tools are the ones people ask about most, we set out exactly what we use and what we do not.

What we use

Google Tag Manager. We manage our tags through a Google Tag Manager container. Tag Manager is a delivery mechanism — it does not set cookies of its own or collect personal information by itself. It decides which of the tags below are allowed to load, based on the consent you have given.

Google Analytics 4. We use Analytics to understand how many people visit, which pages they read, how they found us and where journeys break down. It is loaded only with your consent to statistics cookies. Google acts as our processor for Analytics data under Google’s data processing terms, and we do not use Analytics to identify individual visitors by name.

Google Ads. We advertise on Google. Google Ads cookies let us see which campaigns and keywords produce enquiries, and support remarketing — showing our adverts to people who have visited our site before. These load only with your consent to marketing cookies.

Google Fonts and Google Maps. These are used for typography and to show our location. They do not set advertising cookies, but requesting a font or a map from Google does disclose your IP address to Google, which is why they are listed separately in this policy.

What we do not use

We do not use Google Ad Manager or any other ad server, because we do not sell or display third-party advertising on this website. You will never see someone else’s advert here.

We do not use cookies to decide anything about your insurance. Cookie and advertising data plays no part in whether we will help you, what cover we recommend, what you are quoted, or what you pay. Pricing comes from the insurer, based on the information you give in your application. Nothing about your browsing feeds into it.

We do not send the contents of our forms to Google or to Meta. The health, medical and lifestyle information you give us when applying for life, critical illness, income protection or private medical insurance is never passed to any advertising or analytics provider. Advertising and analytics tags record that a form was submitted; they do not record what was in it.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone, and we do not allow the third parties named in this policy to use the information collected here for their own unrelated purposes.

Where Google’s tools are used for advertising in the UK, Google requires websites to pass a consent signal so the tags know whether they may use cookies and whether advertising data may be used. We use Google’s consent signalling in conjunction with our consent tool, so that if you decline marketing cookies, that decision is communicated to Google and its advertising features are restricted accordingly.

8. Meta (Facebook and Instagram)

We advertise on Facebook and Instagram, and we use the Meta pixel to measure whether those adverts result in enquiries and to build audiences of people with similar interests.

The pixel is loaded only with your consent to marketing cookies. Where Meta uses the information for its own purposes as well as ours, Meta and I’m Insured are each responsible for our own part of that processing. You can control how Meta uses your information for advertising in your Facebook or Instagram account settings, or through Meta’s own privacy settings, independently of anything you set here.

9. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Web browsers may offer a “Do Not Track” setting or a Global Privacy Control signal. There is no single agreed standard for how sites should respond to Do Not Track, so like most websites we do not rely on it. Our cookie banner is the way to tell us your preference, and it is the setting we act on.

10. Managing cookies in your browser

As well as our banner, you can control cookies in your browser. Most browsers let you block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, or delete cookies already stored.

  • Google Chrome — Settings › Privacy and security › Third-party cookies
  • Safari — Settings › Privacy › Cookies and website data
  • Microsoft Edge — Settings › Cookies and site permissions
  • Mozilla Firefox — Settings › Privacy & Security › Cookies and Site Data

Browser controls are separate from our banner. If you clear your cookies, you will clear your consent record too, so the banner will appear again on your next visit.

For general guidance on cookies see aboutcookies.org or the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

If you block cookies, parts of the site may not work properly. Blocking strictly necessary cookies in particular may stop forms submitting, prevent live chat working, or cause the cookie banner to reappear on every page.

11. Changes, and how to contact us

We review this policy whenever we add or remove a tool that uses cookies, and at least once a year. We re-scan the site as part of that review, so the tables above reflect what is actually running. Where a change means we need new consent, we will ask for it again through the banner.
